“Ask yourself, do I have the habit of ridiculing others?

Many people, because of their own inadequacies, constantly ridicule others. What satisfaction that is received from such behavior is difficult to fully comprehend, because ridicule is such a negative, demeaning act, or word-of-mouth, a source of jealousy, inferior complex, and/or even a need for the ‘offender’ to feel a false importance, more knowledgeable, and superior to someone, or more people, or also, they are very insecure.

Is ridicule a sin?

Against which Commandment(s)?

Surely more than one.

Why is it a sin?

Because it casts a shadow of doubt on someone’s character, abilities, way of doing something, or casts a negative opinion on their character, personality, and/or self-esteem.”
