“If we were to examine each day, at night before retiring, how many of us would wonder what effect we had on everyone we met, on everything we said, everything we expressed to others? Would this be a normal routine or would we not even think of such a course of looking back, judging our behavior? For the most part, it would be a rarity for anyone to do this.
What makes us ignore the importance of what we have done during the period of a day? How many people, before retiring, make a full Examination of Conscience, guided by God’s Commandments?
Is it too much trouble? Is it not necessary? Is it a ridiculous idea? It shouldn’t be, because if we truly believe that our time in the physical life has a Specific Purpose, we must also realize that there are reasons and boundaries for the actions, the thoughts, and our caring for what effect our behavior had on the condition of our Soul.”
