“The word ‘silence’, the command for silence, the demand of silence, is in many ways to control what is happening: one’s anger, one’s emotions, one’s fears, one’s intentions.

Silence, to many people is difficult, for silence makes them think of themselves, of what is wrong, what they fear, and many other problems they might have that seem to multiply in silence rather than disappear.

Silence, to many people, allows time for prayer, for constructive thinking, for purposeful endeavors to be accomplished. Silence gives them tranquility, peace, and in some ways they feel healthier when the mood surrounding them, the mode of life is silence prevailing in all things.

The world is not in a silent state. There are constant eruptions of violence, of hate. Anger flourishes for no reason sometimes. Men, women and children shout for popularity in all manners, no matter what moral code it states or dictates.

In sound morality, there is a particular silence even when it is active, for morality bespeaks clarity, peace, goodness, happiness, satisfaction.

Immorality, on the other hand, radiates turmoil, aggressiveness, self-love, self-importance, selfishness and all things that tend to dominate peace, silence, love, sincerity, hope, dignity and respect.

When man becomes a captive, a prisoner, silence is demanded by the captors because the captors do not want to be dominated by the prisoners.

This Message has much for all of mankind to think about, because in this time in which you live, to speak out against what is wrong is quickly silenced in many areas, because there is so much evil in the world, acting in desperate measures to allow only corruption of the mind, body and Soul to be the focal point of intention.

Goodness in many ways is not evident in many situations that under ordinary circumstances, when there was not so much evil in the world, there would have been less silence requested.

I will speak more on this subject. I am Saint Alphonsus Liguori.”
