“Nothing on earth or no one lives forever. The process of aging is in itself a beautiful thing to understand, to experience, and to see the Hand of God in all areas of life. As human beings, at the moment of conception we begin the aging process, so do trees, animals and all living things.
Material products that build houses, automobiles, airplanes, are useful for a given time, and then in some form or other, are no longer fresh, clean, and bear no blemish.
History tells us that we had the age of dinosaurs and other large animals. We can only relate to these things through the writings of other people, the imagination of other people, and the findings of other people.
Today we are here together, and as each moment passes it is a moment of aging, but it is also a moment of growing closer to God’s Will through the use of our own intellect, our desire, our hope, and eventually through our will, to change what is wrong in our life, to uphold what is right, use what we have absorbed here, and then practice being example every moment of our life from now on.
The discovery that the world had to be round was proven by people with vision. Also, through their example, they passed on to thousands and thousands of people, information and knowledge, giving others the incentive to conquer what idealistic visions of discovery that their thinking made them feel would lead them to places unknown, unseen, undiscovered. These people eventually were written up in History, perhaps not all of them, but the outstanding ones, the ones who left the greatest impact, mark.
Everyone in this room has the opportunity to be remembered for some portion of life that each individual feels has challenge, worth, and individual ability to be example of, in, or by. This example is how one thinks, speaks, acts, works, teaches, directs, accepts responsibilities, expresses Spiritual hopes, drive, and ability to extend to others the importance of living a life dedicated to morality, observing God’s Commandments, and expressing openly a sound code of ethics in moral behavior.
Each moment we live is a precious Gift from God because time is important to mankind, not measured in years, decades, but every moment of every day touches someone else’s life in some way: a neighbor, a telephone call, a word, or an expression of politeness in a store, dignity in one’s workplace, and of course, in unlimited ways.
A small prayer to God is never time wasted. A small act of kindness to another person is not time wasted. Gentleness, genteelness is never time wasted. A meaningful smile, a kind word, when it is properly done, for the correct reason, is never time wasted.
From now on, in the aging process, remember it as a time that is a privilege, a time that God desires for each of us to spend learning to love Him more, and using all we are to grow closer to Him because of that Portion of Him within us, our Soul.”
