"FACING REALITY"

“Many men who possessed the reputation as great leaders in certain areas of the world, our own included, in reality this appraisal of them was because of the false front they extended to the world, covering up what they were really all about.

It is always a shock to see adultery, bigotry, heresy, suddenly come forth to become known to the whole world, that a particular person lived a different life behind that false front that seemed to have so much appeal, humanly speaking, politically speaking, morally speaking.

To have compassion for these men because of their weakness shows not just understanding of weakness, but a weakness in one’s own moral code of ethics. To be considerate of their weakness radiates to one’s own values and strengths, indifference to God’s Ten Commandments, and that all people should uphold them. When we are so complacent about immorality it weakens us in a way that is difficult to explain, because to each person it would be a different facet of life that would be weakened.

Bigotry is seen and felt in so many countries in the world, even right here where we live. Some people justify bigotry because they are fighting for a cause. Whether the cause be justified or not, they find it important to them, perhaps because of background or environment, or even some religious beliefs. Bigotry in itself is sad, because it radiates so much self-righteousness and it is void, so many times, of human understanding, human dignity, human respect.

All through time we have been plagued by heresies. In reality, heresies are developed untruths, defying what is right, what is good, what is sound, what is spiritually acceptable to God.

In all generations of lineage there have been and there are now, practices, sometimes tradition, sometimes inherited ideas that are prone to what can be considered imbalance in one’s thinking, actions, and ideas.

To be a Christian nowdays is important because Christianity has, in its very inception, given hope, understanding, true compassion, a positive goal, and a strong formula for life. As Christians, as Roman Catholic Christians, we are fortunate to be able to stand up and be counted for what we know has purpose to it, dignity in it, and God’s Will as its goal.”
