“Forgiveness is an important part in so many areas of our life. There are many times forgiveness changes family relationships, friendships, giving everyone involved a fresh start.

When we act wrongly toward someone else it is oftentimes difficult to ask for forgiveness, but a humble, forgiving attitude on the part of the person wronged can teach us an important lesson and right the relationship, allowing the relationship to become stronger. If we, in hoping to be forgiven correct the wrong, it shows much strength in our values and standards, also strength in our character.

The Sacrament of Penance is a Sacrament of humility and a Sacrament that brings great peace to our mind, body and Soul because of the courage it many times takes to speak out loud the offenses we have committed, and in reality asking forgiveness for each of them. When the priest closes the door to where we kneel, it is so many times like a new beginning and there is always a feeling of hope and peace that sometimes is indescribable.

Forgiveness in each one’s life is important. Apology is important. Extending understanding is important. Forgiveness is no stranger to God, so we should make forgiveness no stranger to our way of life.”
