“The word ‘renewal’ is being used to alert Roman Catholics to situations that will generate more Protestantism than Roman Catholicism.

The method by which this renewal program is based upon has all the signs of people becoming more dependent upon hearing another person’s emotional experience, or even unemotional feelings about their religious hopes, experiences or motives.

All the words in the world, all the simplicity in which they project this program, all the enthusiasm that can be mustered up to encourage small groups, large groups, leadership groups, say Protestantism, not Roman Catholicism.

There is no doubt that many people find Spiritual group therapy advantageous to generating more enthusiasm about the Bible, and without question, the very togetherness with other people helps some people to think more about religion, BUT, the renewal program has a typical humanistic evaluation on man and what man means to man.

Whatever happened to the priests who could teach to hundreds of people during specific devotions, encouraging the people to obey God’s Ten Commandments, also give sermons on Faith, Hope and Charity without the faithful becoming emotionally interested in each other, eliminating God?

With the emphasis on renewal, the emphasis will be on what John Doe or Jane Doe feels, experiences, and their method of feeling revived by this surge of momentary sensitivity to being in a group that gives each person the opportunity to speak, to deliberate and be distracted, instead of the focal point on God, on the Soul, by a priest teaching the soundness of Christianity, prefacing his teaching with God’s Love for each individual human being and the perfection that each human being should reach for, plus, teaching the Purpose of life: to return the Soul to God.

Television had a big impact on this part of modern thinking, but the strength, the drive, the encouragement, the example has to be, and should have been continued by the priest so that television did not become competition, but he has lost his captive audience, and he should use his own example, credibility, Faith in God, to encourage the faithful to understand that God is The Supreme Being and nothing should supersede Him in time, in energy, in entertainment, and never should He be neglected; BUT, the weak changes, the laxness that took place, the lack of direction, the dispensing of clerical duties to the layman has not brought the layman closer, but caused confusion that is disheartening to those who held the priest in high esteem, as the Father who could intercede in so many ways, in so many areas, to give strength to one’s Faith when it is needed.

Faith, when it is based on innocence, is a Faith that no price tag can be placed upon. Faith, when it is practiced with concern as to its dignity, as to its direction, as to its soundness, bears a tremendous courtship with disaster.

Excuse after excuse has been reiterated by the men in Holy Mother Church for their laxness in charity to the faithful, but this renewal to Roman Catholics is the final slap in the face by the clergy, and Roman Catholics are being put in a dangerous position in so many ways, because many people who will want to be the leaders in group therapy will not be qualified nor will they have the ability to understand that their own Faith could be challenged by satan himself.

Renewal programs can project sensitivity programs, emotional situations, dependence on another person, forgetting one’s own great Gift from God, his or her own will to obey God’s Ten Commandments.
