Saint Teresa of Avila

“I am Saint Teresa of Avila. I walked in a religious way of life. I walked in a time before your time. The rules by which we understood the Will of God must be accomplished, were rules of submission to performing designated prayer time, observance of silence, and a constant examination of conscience, confessing even the most minute offense that could possibly detour the Soul from Where God intended It to go.

Granted, the strictness by which we lived, the profession of Faith we felt necessary, the small practices offering our deeds, our way, were special and gave us happiness because of the deep Faith we felt in our way of life. So much of this has passed off into nothingness in your time. Sacrifices for the benefit of one’s Soul is almost unheard of, because mankind has accepted a form of moral freedom; in reality, accepting immorality.

There are so many areas in your way of life, that with a small turn of understanding, to understanding the benefit of self-control, self-discipline, would bring more pleasure than the irresponsibility that mankind is accepting, the irrational rejection to The Commandments of God.

Men say, ‘I do not want a debilitating disease.’ How many men do you hear say, ‘I do not want my Soul so debilitated that It cannot enter the Kingdom of God’?

In the time you live, there is very little genuine happiness. There is a tremendous struggle, a defensive attitude, because of the lack of self-control, self-discipline, and sound moral values and sound moral standards. Also, there are some, many I would say, who feel they can lead mankind gallantly into a greater life by instructing them in humanism. Logic is left out of this instruction.

It is sad to see so many Religious Orders of women and men destroyed by their lack of Spiritual understanding and growth. It was not just striving for modernization that caused so many to abandon a life dedicated to Spiritual growth. In many ways, so many were enticed by what was obviously more acceptable because of its lack of order to daily living.

As I leave you at this time, I sincerely want you to know that your dedication, your loyalty, is Blessed a thousandfold. So be it.”
