“For centuries man has used forms and means for weight measures. In your day it is called ‘a scale’. Many people use it constantly to check their body weight.

I am Saint Alphonsus Liguori. I come on this day to give you some thought in using a scale to weigh the good you have done, the good example you have given, the good thoughts you have expressed, and to measure in weight your charitable acts in the period called ‘a day’.

Man says, ‘I have prayed for you.’ I, Saint Alphonsus Liguori ask: ‘What type of prayer? Who did you pray to? Was it a sincere prayer, and do you do it often, or is, “I have prayed for you; I am praying for you,” just a manner of speech to console someone, to make the person think that you have thought about them, wishing them a closeness to God, asking God to help them?’

So many times people feel it is expected of them to say they have prayed or they will pray, and in reality the prayer is never spoken. It is forgotten about because other events, distractions or duties make one say, ‘I’ll do it later today.’

Prayer is important communication and all prayers are heard, for whatever reason a prayer is said. It takes a moment of thought, a moment of directed communication to point one’s thoughts for the benefit of a plea, a request, for the sake of another human being.

So many, many prayers are not said that have been told were said. It is a responsibility, small in one way; it would weigh very light on a scale of what you would term ‘one to ten’, but you do not fully realize, fully understand, the importance of this communication to God from man.

I have spoken many times. My way is not a frivolous way; it never has been. So please, as you read this Message, I ask you to take It to heart, and remember, if you say you’ve prayed and you have not, it is a sin, it is a lie, for the other person depends upon your communication to assist in a time of need, and much dependence is placed on your Faith in the importance of prayer.

I bless you, and I do want you to remember What I have spoken today. It is important, It is reasonable, and in many ways, your prayers on the behalf of others will one day be many times repaid. So be it.”
