“The Miracle Of Saint Joseph is the only One of Its kind in the world, but was given to the world because of the difficult times in the world.
The Priesthood is very important to God for God is The One Who instituted the Priesthood, established it amongst mankind, elaborated upon it, and left His Words to carry it on.
I lived in a time, not the time of Christ, but I lived in a time of controversy. There was heresy, and many problems within the Church. I am Saint Alphonsus Liguori.
When this child speaks to you of professional men, of their ethics, their greed, how they feel about pride in what they feel they know, what they can handle, what they do, it is sadness because they forget one thing: to have the ability of charity, to have the ability of loyalty, to have the ability of gentleness, kindness, for the good of another human being, is more important to God than anything else a man can give. A man has the intellect to share with others. This intellect was a Gift from God. A man has the ability to speak. This is a Precious Gift from God. A man has the ability to see. This too is a Special Gift from God.
Men talk about Christianity. Men speak of how to live It, how to feel It, how to divulge It, how to be example of It, but then they go their way and do their thing, the way they feel at the moment it should be done, not always remembering that the Gift of Christianity is a Gift of Hope, a Gift of Strength, and that Christianity in Itself bears an armor, a code of ethics that says, ‘I obey God’s Ten Commandments for the good of my Soul and for the good of all mankind’s Souls.’
‘I believe in Christianity,’ a man says, ‘I am a Christian.’ Question him, what does he mean by his being a Christian? There are many, many degrees of Christianity. Some men use Christianity as a means to better business, more power in business, more advantage, more friendships, more contacts. Men use Christianity to say to another man, ‘You see, I am equal to you, I agree with you, for I too am a Christian, I too believe in a god,’ but they do not tell which god they believe in. Their god, most of the time, if you were to write it out, would begin with a small ‘g’.
You must remember, My sons, that a Gift that is to serve mankind, whether it is in a clerical position, a literary position, a profession of any kind, if it is just to take numbers down, if it is to keep the peace, if it is a position mechanical by nature, there is a responsibility in it to every man you come in contact with, for you see, your name is connected to your body, to who you are, what you do, what you say, and your name may be spoken in corners of the earth that you do not hear what is said.
Your name, on a sheet of paper, can travel far from you. What does that name say to those who read that name? Does it say honor, dignity? Does it say that this person has a code of ethics, this person lives by God’s Ten Commandments, or this man is a pagan by nature but a Christian when he exclaims his position? Does this name say he is a hypocrite, he is a liar, he’s an adulterer? Does this name say, ‘Don’t trust him, he’s a liar’? Does this name say, ‘Do not allow your spouse to be with him for he will take the dignity of life from your spouse for his own greed, his own lust’? What does your name say to all mankind?
Tonight, if you were to write a letter to God, and you said:
‘Dear God, this was my day. There were times I wasn’t too happy with what I was doing. There were times that when I spoke to someone, I really didn’t feel sincere in what I had to say. There were times I cheated. There were times I lied. There were times, if I thought You were by my side, I’d feel disgrace in what I was doing.
‘God, will You return my letter with Your Answer to me, and how You felt about my day, how You would describe Your Reaction to me in Your Way, and then tell me, God, what I should do to change so I can totally be what You want of me in every way?
‘I love You, and I know this, but I cannot see You, I cannot feel You, and in so many ways I feel far away from You, because my love for You is a love I cannot understand, I cannot feel. It is not an emotional love but yet it is a love I know that is there. But I do not always react to this love, but I know it is because I have not trained myself to see You in a Pure Way.
‘When I feel that someone I am with is pure, there is a good feeling. When I feel that I am with someone who is evil, there is another feeling. When I feel that I am with someone who is weak, and I become vulnerable to this person, there is no happiness in this, but there is sometimes lust or greed. But I know that if I were to use a code of ethics based on the Ten Commandments, I would free myself from that person that time and find a way to reach You to get the strength I know I need.
‘I sign the letter off, my God, with hope and in deep prayer, that the letter that I write You will see, and I know that You will hear, for at the bottom I want to say that I have been trained to pledge allegiance to my country, to my flag, and other things. In my heart I want to pledge my allegiance to You, my allegiance to my Soul, so I will never stray. God, help me know what a Pledge of Allegiance of this magnitude will do for my living in the world every day.
‘I sign this letter, “Your son.” This I know, for I know You created me and I also know You created each of us, one by one. This alone should give me the strength to know in my heart I am special in Your Way. So as I sign my name I say, “Please, God, bless me so I will feel the strength to conquer all my weaknesses for the good of my Soul to be with You one day.”’ So be it.”
