"Will the men please come up and get one of each of these, please. After this conference we will have lunch. And I hope that you will take all the papers that you have gotten so far, put them in one of these white envelopes so you do not lose them, and then clip them to your clipboard and put your note pieces on top.
Maybe some of you have noticed it is very difficult for me to read. I haven’t been able to read for twelve years because when Heaven speaks it is spontaneous. But He took reading away from me right in the beginning. I was not allowed to read anything. So I find it, even though He dictated the Words and what is to be taught, it is very difficult. But on a Retreat, God’s Desire is that it be read to you because it is all important and there is so much for you to remember. So He is giving it to you right in print so there will be no question when you leave here, what you received.
Lunch — it will be buffet. We have tried to serve what we feel would take the minimum amount of people the day of the Retreat. Needless to say, yesterday many people pitched in to prepare, but today we are trying to keep it at a minimum in the kitchen so everyone could be in on the Retreat. So it will be buffet, and please eat all you want. Enjoy it. And it’s like I say to the children, ‘Bon Appetit.’ And Heaven always says you must have food for the body as well as for the Soul.
Okay, now, the green one: ‘What Does Faith In God Entail?’
‘Faith is loosely spoken of, and Faith is acted upon in a relaxed manner. Faith should be held dear, it should be sheltered, for in many ways our Faith in God is our foundation for Sainthood.
‘If we are wise, we will accept our Faith as shelter. God proved His Love for shelter when He gave us the Ten Commandments, Holy Mother Church, and All the Beautiful Visions of Our Blessed Mother, with the Direction in Them for our welfare, our Souls, our whole life.
‘Shelter is important to man. In the beginning of Holy Mother Church, shelter was used for The Holy Family at the Birth of Our Lord. Shelter is necessary to human life, against the elements of the universe, against the dangers that lurk all around. Shelter is important for the good of our health. Shelter gives us privacy, encourages us to pray. Shelter in many ways is our Gift of Faith, for in this shelter we are given the strength to fight the enemy of God and to work for Sainthood.
‘Faith is more than a Gift; it is truly a shelter against evil. It would be a beautiful way to live if we always remembered to take shelter in our Faith in God, knowing that He is ever present, and ever willing to be the Shelter we need every day of our life.’
After today God wants each of us to see our Faith in Him as a shelter for our whole being. Most of us never think of our Faith in God as a shelter, but it is. And you know that you and I could not survive if we did not have some type of shelter. So God, knowing this, gave us the shelter of His Love and gave us the Gift of Faith.
Now, the next one talks about ‘Starvation’. Many times, throughout The Miracle, Heaven has talked about what a starving group of children you are upon the earth. You and I rarely look at starving in this manner, but I hope after today you will see it exactly how He says it here:
‘Have you ever thought of yourself as starving to death? There are many means to starvation, some mental, some physical, some Spiritual. Sometimes, where there appears to be a plentiful amount, there is the greatest starvation going on.
‘Throughout the world, men have erupted with great emphasis on telling other men about Faith. In many ways these men are not qualified to distribute their opinions to the masses. Due to their lack of understanding what is best for all people, they should keep their informal religious Faith to themselves. By their great expounding on what they feel is the destiny for other men, they eliminate sound orthodox values and standards from their openness when relaying to others what Faith in God should entail.
‘All things that are God’s have Order, Soundness, Truth, Value, Dignity, and of course, Purpose for the Soul. Wholesale displays of encouraging people to believe in what individuals say has a definite mark of “starvation” in its delivery.
‘A starving nation is without food. Spiritual starvation is a lack of sound judgment, correct teaching and direction, and definitely lacks the stability that God intended Faith in Him to be. There can be a field of food being grown for man’s benefit, but if this food is contaminated with some source of poison or chemical that would be harmful to the body, then this field of food is a useless commodity. So it is with so much religion being demonstrated and used to direct men’s Faith in God.
‘It is difficult to make men see they are suffering from starvation when they feel an emotional impact to what they are hearing, causing them to react inside. They confuse the emotion with Faith. So many times men will fight for what they feel, rejecting the soundness of truth, fact, and reason. All through the History of man there have been untrained men who feel the urge to direct other men in the Spiritual portion of life. Some had good intention and yet failed miserably in their own life because they could not uphold their own standards of morals in living. Some went into the practice of teaching and healing totally for monetary measures.
‘A wise man does not follow such a man. A wise man sees to it that the religion he binds himself to must be of God’s Will, for a wise man sees his own Soul as a Special Gift from God with Great Purpose to It. Men instinctively know there is more to the physical life than just living for a given time upon the earth. Some try to ignore this, because they do not want to partake in the responsibility of moral strengths, self-control, and the discipline necessary.
‘Don’t let other men guide your Faith in God if there is one ounce of untruth in their direction. Let no man tamper with the Goal God has set for your Soul. There is no need for any man to suffer Spiritual starvation. Sound Faith, sound Direction is free to all men born to the world.’
In listening to people talk about Miracles, it is always obvious they have their own design, their own idea of Miracles. It is always fear that grips me when man sees a Miracle only where the physical is concerned. So many people on TV are exploiting others by allowing them or insisting they feel that a physical Miracle has taken place.
God performs physical Miracles every day of our life. Sometimes we think the aspirin or the Bufferin took the pain away. Sometimes we give great credit to another area of life, but so few times we give credit to God. Only God knows how much pain we can handle, how much strength we have to endure what we must face, and only God knows if allowing the illness to go quickly is best for us or it is best that it hang on a little while.
One time I was very, very ill, and when I went to the doctor he tried to console me; and I knew he was trying to be very gentle and very nice, and yet I knew when what he was saying was true. I knew in my heart that God was going to help me.
I went to another doctor and he said, ‘You must go right into surgery.’ And he got on the phone and he started — this was twenty-two years ago — he started to make an appointment. I said: ‘Wait a minute, wait a minute. I have to pray first.’ And he became very angry when I said this. He said, ‘This is not an ecclesiastical problem; it is a medical problem.’ And I said, ‘To me, I have to go to God first.’ I said, ‘I don’t care what you call it.’ The man was enraged when I left there, totally enraged.
So, I went home and I said my Rosary, and like all people who are faced with tragedy for the physical, I felt a despair. I felt like the whole world had caved in and nobody cared. So, after I prayed my Rosary I knew that God would help me if I helped myself.
And I’m not saying surgery is not necessary. It is, many times. Heaven knows that. But we must go to God when we fear something, when we are concerned, and let God have first crack at making the decision. Now, if it’s an emergency, that’s a different story. Then we must depend upon man’s knowledge. But when we have a problem dealing with our mental, our physical, our family, everything, go to God first. Feel the peace and the tranquility, and then walk in logic. See the logic. Sift the logic from what is being said, what is being requested, and what others say should take place. You have a will to make your own decision and you have the logic, and for Heaven’s sake, you should have the Faith. But the Faith must come first because in sound Faith there is sound logic.
Now, the next one that Heaven wants you to look into is ‘Private Devotions’.
‘Private devotions are important to each man’s life. They ensure him of a constant communication with God. Private devotions consist of many things: particular prayers, particular actions of charity, particular reading, particular ways to communicate with God. This is a good habit. It has stability, it has reliability, and it motivates a zeal for more closeness to God.
‘Private devotion gives an intimacy with prayer, and in this way of praying, there are special prayers that encourage more prayer.
‘A man who never prays is a man who never thinks of his Soul. A man who never feels the need for private devotion is a man who walks a very lonesome road. A man who never sees himself confined to prayer is a man who has little self-control. In prayer there is discipline, and men who find prayer difficult find self-discipline impossible. This should alert them to a very impure role.
‘Private devotion is necessary, and if you have not practiced it thus far, it would be wise to begin to see the importance of it and the stability in it, plus the shelter it is for the Soul.’
One of the saddest things, I feel, in Holy Mother Church, is the lack of feeling people have toward private devotions; and I sincerely feel that because there is a great lack of it, people participating, there is a great lack of Faith. People are too busy to pray.
I sincerely know and I sincerely feel that I never made a novena to Our Heavenly Mother that She did not answer my prayers. Maybe I didn’t get exactly what I wanted but I always felt the gift when it arrived. It is necessary to ask our Parents, our Heavenly Parents, to help us. It is necessary for our way of life. It is necessary to have the Faith that They will hear us. It is necessary for us to understand that we will receive from Them what is best for us. So, private devotions, very important, and I truly hope and pray that private devotion will become so active that men will find a necessity to go partake in it and once again keep the priests in the Church active.
Roman Catholics let the priests down a long time ago. The priest would mention on the altar that there would be a Triduum or a retreat or there was a novena going on, and very few people would show up. They were too busy. They didn’t understand or they didn’t feel that was necessary. They didn’t feel it was for them. Roman Catholics let the priests down. If we had been behind our priests and we had had the Faith to believe in private devotions, our priests would not have had a chance to be so relaxed because they would have been too busy thinking of new ways to encourage us to become Saints. And that is very true.
Next one is Piety: ‘Piety Should Be Natural To Us’.
‘Piety expresses reverence, desire to show only respect in church, during private prayers, or at public devotions. Piety is necessary for purity.
‘Piety could be termed “a stepping stone to purity”, for without reverence, without respect, there would be a chance of undignified attitude or response when a time for reverence or respect should be acted upon or acted in, or shown in and through example.
‘All men should express piety when they pray. In many ways, piety says out loud, a sincere desire to extend to God personal love.
‘True piety is not fanaticism.’
That’s where so many Roman Catholics mistake piety as being fanatical. When someone is fanatical they act over and above piety, and it’s annoying. There’s no getting around it, it’s annoying. You feel uncomfortable, not because you feel that you’re not doing your job because you are not acting like that person, but the person is embarrassing to be around because they are obsessed with their actions, they are obsessed with their desire to display their feeling toward God. Piety has dignity to it; it has reverence and it has respect. So please, some time when you feel like looking at something, look at that sheet of paper.
Next one, pink: ‘Don’t Do It’.
‘What do you take for granted: your life, your mind, your will, your Soul, your Faith, your interests, your knowledge? Do you take it for granted that tomorrow will come? Many times men take everything for granted, putting no effort forth to make situations, places or obligations important enough to emphasize each one’s particular role.
‘Men take God for granted. Men take religion for granted. Men take each other for granted. It is time for each one making this Retreat to visualize and to concentrate on what effect taking things for granted has on each of their lives. When we take for granted our Faith, we rob ourselves of the desire to grow in Faith, the stimulation that Faith can be to our whole being, the tranquility and peace that Faith can give to other portions of our life.
‘When we take things for granted, we automatically diminish them into a pattern by diluting them to a point where there is no stimuli or encouragement in them.
‘Let’s take advantage of being alert to what taking everything for granted can rob us of. Let’s begin now. Rather than take things for granted, we should work at improving everything we are involved in and everything about us.
‘Some people say a new hat does wonders for them, some say a new pair of shoes, some say a coat of paint in the house, some say a new fad, some say taking a course in a school. Others will swear by a new business venture. Still others will find a vacation gives them what they need to take away the burden of life.
‘Taking things for granted creates a great burden. Life becomes so repetitious, so uninteresting that everything is taken for granted. Stop it! It is time to see God in the degree He allows you to see Him. It is time to exercise your Faith in Him with new fervor. It is time to look at what you’ve been missing and take advantage of the opportunity to grow in purity. It is time to not ignore the wonder of change, and see the value of developing a burning zeal to serve God. All things begin in our mind first, then our will determines our action, and our actions are what create the fulfillment to obtain our goals.’
I hope you remember that this was all dictated by Heaven. I have seen people take The Miracle for granted. I have seen people take all the Revelations for granted. I have seen people take the Hill for granted, and I sincerely feel that in that area I reached my ‘waterloo’ last week when I found so little understanding of what Saint Joseph’s Hill of Hope is all about. I mentioned to the person that was with me that with this attitude and with this little understanding and with this ridiculousness, that City could never be built. And I said, ‘This City is going to be built because it is God’s Will.’
So many times, even back to eleven years ago, almost twelve years ago, I watched people take everything they could from The Miracle Of Saint Joseph. And when they were gone I would stand there and say, ‘I know, God, only You could love man this much; I couldn’t.’ They would come in total deceit, and they think they fooled me. They didn’t. God would say, ‘They have come in deceit, child.’ And I would look at the people and I’d think, ‘How can they not know I know?’
They used to come and have great big purses and hide tape recorders in the purses. Heaven would alert me, and it was amazing what Heaven would do to make them not be deceitful. I think all the crackpots in the world came to The Miracle Of Saint Joseph within a two-year span — hypnotists, artists, fanatics, religious leaders, all wanting what The Miracle had.
The devil himself came to The Miracle Of Saint Joseph. It was so sad. One night, when I saw this one man sitting there, there was something definitely wrong with the man. He was what I would call an ‘open book’. Heaven said, ‘He has been sent by the enemy of God.’ The man had a human flesh, he had a human mind and he was a very bad man. He was controlling lives. He was involved in people’s morals like you wouldn’t believe, that when he left, I felt so dirty just being in his presence that I could not understand how people could be close to this man. He was not Catholic. There was a priest in the room at the time. And we used to hand Rosaries out by the hundreds, and this man had the gall to take a Rosary. And he made a big issue out of him taking the Rosary, and he said, ‘Can I have one of those?’ And Heaven said, ‘Give him one.’ So we had Father bless them right there.
I have seen people think they were putting it over, and they’re not. But to have constant debate and constant confrontation wouldn’t settle a thing because man, in his arrogance, his wickedness, his lack of Faith, his ego, would not understand. He just doesn’t under-stand that God is more powerful. God would tell an instrument.
All you are receiving here today is for the good of your Soul and for the good of your Faith. This whole thing makes a great ‘Voice Of Hope’ and it’s going to be sent out as ‘The Voice Of Hope’ because there’s not one thing in here that everyone in the world shouldn’t have. And there’s no date on it, if you’ll notice. I purposely did not put a date. On the originals there’s a date, for the files. This is timeless. If, fifty years from now, somebody picks it up, they’re going to need the same Lesson you got today. And don’t think they’re not, because human beings are going to be the same way fifty years from now as you and I are.
Now, let’s take ‘Our Will Determines God’s Justice For Our Soul’.
‘Impure thoughts, actions, deeds, are usually blamed on something else, someone else, or something totally ridiculous. What makes people blame their weaknesses on others?
‘It is so obvious that our own impurities are totally of our own will. If we accept temptation, we must realize that temptation, wherever it comes from, is triggered in our mind and developed by our own will. We alone are to blame for our own impurities. Facts are facts. Logic is logic. Truth is truth. It is important that all men face the reality that what they do is their own decision, and they have no one to blame but themselves. Realizing and understanding this eliminates excuses for misbehavior, indecencies, immoralities, selfish mistakes and actions that are harmful to other human beings.
‘In the realization that we are our sole decision maker, should give us a strength that nothing else can. It is a grave sin to try to dominate another man’s will. It can be placed in the serious area of sins against several of God’s Commands, perhaps all of Them.
‘In the Creation of man, God left nothing out. The physical body was perfectly designed, perfectly constructed for reasons intended by God: to serve, to live, and to return to Him the Precious Soul. The physical life is but the means to one day be with God for All Eternity.
‘If one were to concentrate on the value of the physical body, meant by God for it, man could not bear to sin, nor could man bear to make excuses for any act of impurity. It is man’s resistance to see the Beauty of God’s Will that encourages man to live bent on just humanism.’
There’s another page to this. I don’t have it. Bob, can I please have that second page? Thank you. No, that’s not it. Is there, are there two pages? No, I guess not. Okay. Okay, thank you.
Before we take any action on anything we do, we should all keep in mind that the decision all comes out of our own will and no one else’s. We should resent anyone who takes this from us — our privilege to use our own will. A baby, a little bitty one, will fight to use its own will and we think it’s cute. Whenever I see a baby stand up, that’s, you know, one and a half or two years old — when they get older it’s not funny — but the wee ones, they have their will and they are determined to do what they want. It’s innate in man.
Now, ‘Prayer Leads To Purity’. Do you have that one?
‘Prayer is a way of life, not just moments in life. Prayer is a composite of our actions, our thoughts, our words and our deeds. Prayer, in essence, is an expression of our Faith in God. Prayer is a reminder of our dependency upon God. Prayer is an expression of hope. Prayer is communication with God. Prayer is example. Prayer is a means to tell others what our moral values and our moral standards are.
‘There are many ways to pray: verbally, silently, actively, spiritually. Prayer can be a commitment to a specific vocation of life.
‘Prayer is protection, for when we are praying, our mind, our body and our Soul are in union with our Faith in God.’
‘Through my prayers, help me to reach purity. Through my prayers, help me to be example of purity. Through my prayers, help me to teach others purity. Through my prayers, let all things I am become pure.’
Now, if you men will please hand out the envelopes so they do not lose anything. Here, men. I’ve got more here. Please be sure that you have it in the order it was given, because there is special reason for this. I don’t just pick a sheet of paper. I am told exactly how to give it to you.
We will have lunch and I hope that you are getting enough breaks to relax so you don’t sit in the same chair all the time. And I do hope that each of you, so far, are thinking about what is being said.
Now, will you please get out your ‘Blessing Before Meals’. This has been the Blessing that the children in both Academies are using, and of course, Heaven will dictate more Blessings to the children, teaching them to pray in many ways. They are learning to go to God as an individual. So, will you please stand?
In the Name of The Father and of The Son and of The Holy Ghost. Amen.
‘Dear God, please bless this food I am about to eat. Allow it to give me the strength to persevere in all You expect of me. Amen.’
In the Name of The Father and of The Son and of The Holy Ghost. Amen.
Bon Appetit. And please remain silent."
