Saint Not Named

“You or I can give God nothing; only one thing — time. For the time is His, not ours. The love is not ours. The desire is not ours, for we are but instruments of His Life, His Light, His Hope, His Love, His Perfection. We are like a grain of sand upon the earth, a drop of water upon the earth. None of us are truly a ray of light, for a ray of light has many degrees, many, many facets and much power, and it is through our littleness we fear, through our littleness we wonder, and through our littleness we pray.

It is important that each day we say:

‘God, help me, I am so little.

God, help me, I am not brave.

God, help me, for though my thanksgiving is sincere, my gratitude is small in many ways.

God, help me, for I sound strong, but in reality I am weak.

God, help me, for the sounds of the earth sometimes become so loud and in them I forget the Purification of You, the Beauty of You, the Light of You, the Peace of You and the Love, for I want so much to have all things right that I do not see the Magnitude in the Light. So be it.’”
